Our Public Sector client is looking for an Accountant on a permanent basis to join their growing team. As an Accountant you will work on a multi-disciplinary team where you will provide financial disclosure and accounting-related securities expertise
What we offer:
- Location: Downtown Toronto
- Pay: $115,000/yr. Depending on experience
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Days, Monday to Friday – Hybrid
What you’ll do:
- You will review prospectuses, exempt market activities, and continuous disclosure filings by public companies to assess market participants’ compliance with securities law
- You will work on applications for discretionary relief from securities legislation and adapt regulatory principles to industry trends and emerging issues
- You will communicate and develop stakeholder relationship through regular interactions with companies, their advisors, their counsel and representatives from other provincial securities and international regulators
- You will participate in projects or reviews that impact public or private markets
- You will provide clients with complex and novel accounting issues in the capital markets
What we’re looking for:
- Must have a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation
- Must have 3 to 5 years of post-CA designation relevant experience in in conducting external audits
- Knowledge of the securities industry and accounting standards (IFRS) would be an asset
- Must have knowledge in the concepts and principles that underline accounting and securities regulation and an ability to apply those concepts and principles in the regulation of capital markets
- Must demonstrate the ability to establish collaborative working relationships and engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Must have proficiency to balance regulatory objectives with practical business considerations
- Understanding of public sector regulatory requirements – will be an asset
