Blasting Foreman -Civil Heavy / Underground (Kingston, On)
The Blaster will perform surface production blasting activities in compliance with both the employer's guidelines and regulatory standards.
Job Duties:
In the role of the Blaster, you will execute blasting operations across Kingston and its vicinity. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring the safety and efficiency of each blast site's operations.
Other duties will include:
- The typical work hours span from Monday to Friday.
- As the leader overseeing blasting operations, collaborate with the Construction Superintendent for support.
- Develop blast designs and layout drill patterns.
- Conduct hazard assessments at blast sites to guarantee a secure working environment. Communicate pertinent information to the blast crew, reviewing hazard assessments during safety tailgate meetings.
- Ensure all daily-use equipment, including explosives product delivery vehicles, is clean and in optimal condition.
- Safely transport explosives and adhere to both federal and provincial regulations.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all products, explosive and non-explosive.
- Enforce compliance with company policies, safe work practices, hazard analyses, and standard operating procedures.
- Possession of an approved ERD or PAL is mandatory.
What We’re Looking For:
- Preferred qualifications include completion of high school (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and PDF reporting, is desirable. Possession of a blasting certification or equivalent experience is required.
- Post-secondary education related to blasting, such as in mining, mineral resources, or geology, is considered an asset.
- An asset to the role is holding a Class 3 or higher driver's license.
- Candidates with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience are sought.
- Good physical condition is essential, involving the ability to repeatedly handle 25 kg units.
- A positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a collaborative team player mentality are also valued attributes.
