Drake International is hiring Mechanical Assemblers/Machine Builder – Level 1 to 4 for our automation and manufacturing client in the Mississauga area.
If you have experience in mechanical assembly, machine building, automation equipment, or a similar manufacturing environment, this may be the perfect opportunity for you! Candidates will be assessed based on their experience and technical skills and placed at the appropriate Junior, Intermediate, Senior, or Lead level.
What we offer:
- Location: Mississauga, L5N 2B8 ON
- Pay rate: $$25–$45/hr. depending on experience and assessed level
- Shifts: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Start Date – ASAP on an ongoing basis.
- Temporary to Permanent opportunity
What you’ll do:
- Assemble automation equipment, machinery, and mechanical sub-assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, mechanical technical drawings, and schematics.
- Read and follow build summaries and assembly work instructions.
- Understand equipment layout and assembly sequence to complete builds efficiently.
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Use computer-based systems to read and interpret 3D drawings.
- Assemble mechanical systems and components, including frames, bearings, gearboxes, and related equipment.
- Perform mechanical alignment and adjustments.
- Work with pneumatic systems and components.
- Inspect parts and complete assemblies for defects, alignment, and conformance to specifications.
- Identify and report design, machining or documentation issues.
- Work with Engineering teams to make corrections and improvements as required.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of assembled equipment, depending on experience level.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement and Assembly teams to meet project timelines.
- Participate in project and production meetings as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and requirements, including LOTO.
What we’re looking for:
- 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, machine building, automation equipment, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and mechanical schematics.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Hands-on approach and willingness to work in an assembly/shop floor environment.
- A technical diploma or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Depending on the level, experience with testing, debugging, mentoring, leadership, rework and retrofitting will be required.
- Must have a clear Crim check.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
- Ability to work in an assembly/shop floor environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- Ability to climb and work around machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to noise from operating machinery.
- Overtime may be required based on production requirements and project deadlines.
- Occasional weekend work may be required during busy periods.
