We're seeking an Operations Supervisor to join our client's team in Ottawa
What We Offer:
- Salary: $35.40
- Job Type/Shift: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday (10 hours each day) but should have open availability; Evening shift
- Benefits: After 300 hours
What You'll Do:
- Lead and manage employees in a unionized, fast-paced distribution environment
- Ensure productivity, safety, service quality, and budget targets are met
- Enforce health, safety, sanitation, and legislative compliance through audits and monitoring
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards to keep the facility clean and efficient
- Manage employee performance, coaching, engagement, and training
- Handle union relations and grievances in line with company policies
- Plan daily workloads, remove productivity barriers, and optimize operations
- Ensure on-time store deliveries and high customer service standards
- Track KPIs, inventory integrity, and performance metrics using WMS/SAP/BW
- Drive continuous improvement, cost efficiencies, and problem-solving initiatives
- You would have anywhere from 12 to 30 direct reports
What We're Looking For:
- Bilingual Candidate (English and French)
- At least 2 years of leadership experience within a unionized manufacturing or distribution environment is considered an asset
- Strong analytical skills (Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong organizational and tactical planning skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts or hours
- Proven record of leading diverse teams towards achieving objectives through collaborative and participatory management practices
- Strong ability to manage through delegation, engagement, and proper follow-up
- Ability to analyze business metrics and communicate targets and standards of performance which meet or exceed quality and profitability objectives
- Effectively develop distribution teams through coaching and mentoring
- Ability to take initiative, strong work ethic, behaves with a sense of urgency
- Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to adapt quickly to new situations as well as new and changing processes, programs, and services
- Highly developed time management skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate duties as needed
