As Junior Payroll Specialist, you will be a proactive individual who excels in a fast moving-growing environment and wants to start building a career in payroll. This role entails administration and reporting requirements associated with the payroll process.
 
What we offer:
 
  • Location: Brampton, ON
  • Days of work – Monday to Friday, must have flexibility in working hours, Hybrid – 3 days onsite
  • Pay: $30/hr. – $34/hr. + 4% vacation pay We Deduct CPP, EI and Income Tax.  You will be paid each Friday for the previous week’s work.
  • Dates of assignment: Starting ASAP on a 6-month contract.
  • Full Time, with possibility of extension or going perm
 
What you’ll do: 

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees and owner-operators.
  • Handle daily payroll queries related to hourly, salaried, and Owner Operator payroll.
  • Process bi-weekly records of employment for all hourly and salaried employees and update their records in Kronos.
  • Enter Owner Operator invoices on a daily basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Update new hires in Kronos, provide them with access to biometrics, and update all payroll-related details in Workforce Now (WFN).
  • Issue fuel rates for all provinces as per our collective agreement.
  • Handle Service Canada and Workers' Compensation requests for payroll information.
  • Manage bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly third-party payments such as garnishments and union dues.
  • Maintain accurate and organized filing systems.
  • Participate in various ad hoc projects as assigned.
 
What we’re looking for: 
 
  • Must have 2 – 4 years of payroll experience in Ontario and Quebec
  • Must have completed or working towards PCP
  • Must have software knowledge of Workforce Dimension, UKG and ADP Workforce Now
  • Must have excellent excel competency (including basic formulas – VLOOKUP, pivot table, IF functions, etc.) and experience in using Access software
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be flexibility in working hours 
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Must be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Must be quick learner and organized
  • Must have strong customer orientation and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Must be analytical and very accurate
