Safety Administrator

Drake International, on behalf of our client, a leading transportation company in Sherwood Park, AB is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Administrator to join their team. Our client is a leader in the transportation industry, committed to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. As a Safety Administrator, you will play a vital role in supporting safety initiatives, processing documentation, managing electronic logs, and providing training.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify safety-related documentation and forms.
  • Administer and distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to employees.
  • Conduct training sessions on electronic logs and PPE for staff members.
  • Administer safety award eligibility programs.
  • Enter safety-related data into ABCantrack software.
  • Manage Hours of Service, logbooks, and perform audits to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to compare and manage CVSA & violation history.
  • Provide support to the Terminal Support Specialist as required (permits, licensing).
  • Assist in maintaining necessary compliance with safety standards.
  • Participate in accident investigations and compile relevant information.
  • Actively engage in safety-related programs and educational activities.
  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with company standards and regulations.
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned by supervisor/management.

Qualifications:

  • Less than 2 years of directly related experience.
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent or completion of the third year of apprenticeship in a related field.
  • Experience in the trucking industry is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with logbooks/hours of service or auditing is advantageous.
  • Strong integrity and professionalism, demonstrating the ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Proactive and driven, with a strong work ethic and initiative.
  • Dependable, reliable, and punctual, with minimal absences.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in operating computer hardware and software.
  • Quick learner, adaptable to new software applications.
  • Customer-focused mindset, providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of transportation regulations (National Safety Code Requirements) is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Requirements: Some heavy lifting or physical exertion may be required.
  • Mental/Cognitive Effort: Some complex tasks and assignments, including problem-solving.
  • Environmental Factors: Office environment with no exposure to chemicals or pollutants.
  • Temporary Contract position but an opportunity for a possible extension/ to be hired on by the client
  • Work starts immediately.
