Drake International is hiring Track Technicians for our client in North Bay Area on a permanent basis.
What we offer:
- LOCATIONS: Cochrane and Englehart, ON
- RATE OF PAY: $25.74 – $32.47/hr. (Increases set out as per the collective agreement, Full rate effective after 1 year of service or with 1 year of qualified experience)
- Track Technicians must be willing to travel frequently for work, with travel expenses reimbursed as per collective agreement, must be able to stay away from home for work on a given work schedule
- All opening positions are permanent and come with a comprehensive benefit package
What you’ll do:
- You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and safety of track system
- You will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and replacing rails, ties, switches and ballast
- You will perform tasks associated with track work including but not limited to, pulling and driving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and other track components
- You will ensure railroad right-of-way is clear of brush, vegetation and snow
- Operate in a safe and efficient manner, all equipment and tools associated with track maintenance
- You will read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and federal and provincial regulations
- Comply fully with all safety rules, policies
What we’re looking for:
- Must have high school for college Diploma
- Must have experience in a labor extensive role
- Must be able to travel frequently and be away from home for extended periods of time
- Must be to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sometimes extreme), regular exposure to dust and pollen, noise and vibration, walking and working over rough terrain and embankments
- Must be able to work varying schedules as per operational requirements
- Must be able to perform duties that require heavy lifting up to 65 lbs
- Must possess good hand eye coordination (Using hand tools)
- Must possess a minimum of ‘G’ driver’s license
- Must be able to qualify in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), and MTR (Transport Canada Rules Respecting Track Safety)
- Must be commitment to health and safety
- Will need to pass the following clearances: criminal record check, employment references and pre-employment physical and drug testing.
